How to choose the best espresso machine
Are you looking for an espresso machine but you don't know which one suitable for your needs? If so, there are a number of questions you can ask yourself for choosing the right espresso machine for home use.
First of all: how many cups of coffee do you (and your family members) drink per day? What do you like to drink the most: espresso or cappuccino? And do you prefer not too much work before you can drink your coffee or do you enjoy working the buttons and knobs on the espresso machine?
That's why it is always important to read the description of the machine you are about to choose before you make a choice. The most important choice of choosing an espresso machine is the basis type. There are two options to choose from: fully automatic espresso machine or a semi automatic espresso machine.
Espresso Machine: fully automatic
Fully automatic espresso machines are espresso machines where all variables have been already established. The pressure level of such an espresso machine has already been determined at the ideal level, the quantity of the coffee is automatically weighed (or sometimes inserted by yourself using a cup or a pad) and the water always has the correct temperature. With one knob you will get an espresso that will always taste the same. Fully automatic espresso machines are therefore the ideal espresso machine for someone who does not want too much hassle and wants to drink their coffee as soon as possible. Examples of fully automatic espresso machines are the Nespresso machines, but also Siemens and Jura (those are considered to be the Rolls Royce of the espresso machines) have splendid fully automatic espresso machines.
Espresso Machine: semi automatic
Semi automatic espresso machines are a bit hard to use. You must establish all variables of the machine yourself with this type espresso machine. You have to measure the amount of coffee yourself and you have to use the right amount of pressure on the coffee in the piston. By looking at the pressure meter you can see how high the amount of bar (pressure) is, before you opens the piston and pour the water through the coffee. In short: you really have to excerise a lot to make a nice espresso with a semi automatic machine. You can make a B- espresso but also a perfect A+ with such an espresso machine! Semi-automatic espresso machines are really suitable for coffee devotees who like to twist and turn the knobs of the machine and like to experiment. Examples of semi-automatic espresso machines are Quickmill, Francis Francis or Gaggia.
